Story of the Swift Kiwi card and mobile app
In Wellington, we only have a snapper card for the buses but we don’t have any electronic payment system for trains and for that, we provide a new solution to the transport ticketing system for trains in Wellington and that is why we introduce a new solution swift card to board train easily for customers.
With this solution, Customers will be able to use the Swift Kiwi Mobile app to board the train without having paper-based tickets.
As a team, we planned a more environment-friendly solution for train commuters with a new technological approach.
While we provide an electronic card system, Kiwi Swift Transport Limited is steeped in the latest technology with the “Swift Kiwi” mobile application and website as well. This user-friendly mobile application is a very handy and popular tool for people who are living in the current technological world. We provide QR code-based tickets for those who use the Swift Kiwi mobile application. With mobile applications, commuters can create user logging which can manage their online train tickets, and transactions to top-up the account, track their rides, and many usable facilities.

Technology
Contactless smart card

A contactless smart card is a card in which the chip communicates with the card reader through an induction technology similar to that of an RFID (at data rates of 106 to 848 kbit/s). These cards require only close proximity to an antenna to complete a transaction. They are often used when transactions must be processed quickly or hands-free, such as on mass transit systems, where a smart card can be used without even removing it from a wallet.
Technology
Contactless smart card readers

Contactless smart card readers use radio waves to communicate with, and both read and write data on a smart card. When used for electronic payment, they are commonly located near PIN pads, cash registers and other places of payment. When the readers are used for public transit they are commonly located on fare boxes, ticket machines, turnstiles, and station platforms as a standalone units. When used for security, readers are usually located to the side of an entry door.
Mobile app
Contactless smart card readers

Task & User Flows
Contactless smart card readers
Main Task
There is one main task and that is successfully riding a train by using the Swift Kiwi app as an alternative to the paper train ticket.
User Flow
The user flow contains a few more decision points. This is where Commuters can decide the amount they want to top-up, or if he needs to edit profile information or reset the password. Commuters also can check their available balance.
